We stayed for a holiday weekend mostly because we found a discounted rate. This hotel is pretty cool. Modern decor and the music in the lobby and dining area felt like you were hanging out in a lounge - nice though a little loud in the evening. The room wasn't large, but large enough with really nice amenities. By-the-cup coffee maker with high quality coffee, nice shower and bathroom, excellent electronics (though they seemed a little oversized for the room). Included cold breakfast is good with decent pastries, cereals, and coffee. The hot dishes that were ordered by some of our fellow guests looked tasty. The balcony we had was a real treat - a little fresh air with a great view. (Though with the hotel's no-smoking policy smoking guests may use their balconies for a quick smoke break.) As I mentioned, we were there on a holiday weekend and there were some partiers in the building, but the sound barriers worked pretty well (it is a poured concrete building). While some of the noise could be heard in the hallway the room remained relatively quiet. (They weren't next door, but down the hall) Overall a solid weekend, I would stay here again if I got the chance.

I've stayed at all kinds of hotels in different parts of the country...from 5 stars to places that didn't have signs, let alone stars...and this place was the best value for the money. Great location, great room, great restaurant, great atmosphere, great staff, etc. Service here is what you would expect from a 5 star place that charges $$$ a night. I will say that our particular room was a bit cozy, but we knew that coming in. Still decor was contemporary sleek, room was immaculate, had a balcony which was not even mentioned in room description, ipod dock system, nice TV two walled glass shower with rain forest shower head (BEST SHOWER EVER), and so much more. The place feels more like a spa than a hotel. Service was also great from the Asian steakhouse (great sushi), to the nice complimnetary breakfasts, to the free machines (3 of them) in the lobby to let you check in your flight before you even leave the hotel and avoid the lines at the airport. I will say that I agree with others on two minor points... 1) the doors to the room are a little thin and you can hear what is going on in the hall, but we were there on a busy weekend (Memorial day) and the halls were quiet at night so not an issue. 2) the atmosphere is a very mature one in the sense that there is no pool, it would appear no kid friendly on-site restaurant, and the shower has glass wall out into the room (albiet with a curtain you can pull for privacy)...but this is a fun, romantic get-away so if you insist on bringing the kids, get a suite for extra room (the price is good). That said, I HIGHLY recommend!

The Hotel is conveniently located downtown, with easy access to the metro stations and closed to Michigan avenue and lake shore drive. The staff was extremely helpful and provided useful knowledge about the city. It was my first time in Chicago and I had a blast; will definitely stay there next time I go to chicago, what a great city!
