    The hotel was excellent overall. From the minute we pulled up out front, the staff alerted the front desk of our arrival. Everyone was outgoing and wanted to help. The hotel room was beautiful and had all the amenites you could want. We only had two minor complaints. The parking around the hotel is all meter parking and you can only put a maximum of three hours in the meter at a time. You do have the option of using the hotel valet, which parks your car in the hotel garage for about $29/day. I would expect that a hotel of this quality would provide parking for hotel guests. The hotel provided a continental breakfast each day of our stay which was a wonderful surprise. We took advantage of it the first morning and it was terriffic (eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal fruit & pasteries). The breakfast was offered unitl 11am on the weekend and we decided to take advantage of it again Saturday morning. We arrived at 10:15 and were surprised that they only had a small amount of eggs and cereal available. We inquired if they were going to restock the food and were told the cook was finished. While this was a free breakfast and clearly a benefit, we were disappointed that they stated it was open until 11, yet stopped preparing food 45 minutes prior. These two points were minor and didn't detract much from our experience. Overall this was a terriffic hotel that we would recommend and we will not hesistate to return!

    The stay at this hotel was tremendous. The service was excellent, the room was immense, and the amenities were was more than I thought they would be. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay there for business or pleasure.

    Fantastic all around. Great rooms, great staff, great ammenties, great location. Staff at the front desk is the best. Yes its a couple of blocks from the ocean, but also walking distance to great shops and restaurants. The units have kitchens so you dont have to eat out for every meal, the rooms are spacious and you dont feel crowded at all. It's like having your on condo by the beach. I would stay again for sure and reccomend to friends and family.

    Stayed five nights in March 2009. Great views from the 10th (top) floor. The rooms are even better than the website suggests. Everything is modern and high quality. Concierge and front desk people were very helpful and pleasant-- Car valets were fast and friendly. Use the public parking lot across the street during the day, however, if you want to avoid some tipping. The hotel garage costs $25/day. Two HD tv's with HBO is a classy touch. Balcony had comfortable chairs for sunning or reading. Three complaints: First, no bathroom exhaust fan.. If this was a construction cost-saving decision, it was a big mistake. Second, our suite had a connecting doorway to the room next door. Although there were two doors between our room and theirs, we could understand what our neighbors were saying to each other--and they were not speaking loudly. It was as if the doors were made of balsa wood. Make sure to avoid a connecting suite. Third, forget the pool. On the north side of the building, it's almost always in shade. Outdoor double-sized chaise lounges on Intercoastal Waterway (west) side, however, are delightfully hedonistic. Bottom line: iL Lugano is still relatively new, expecially when compared to the 1970s era hotel competition on the beach. The 10-minute walk to the beach is a trade-off for living in a very nice suite. Would return.

    Thought the price was good- and a fairly new hotel, so we booked it for a night before cruise, even though it was not on the ocean- it's about a half mile walk. Got there around 2- room not ready- said go have lunch and come back. Still no room when we got back- no explanation- we finally got in the room at 5 pm. We requested a double- the room was a queen. Called the desk- they said it was the only room available. Looked at the coverlet at the bottom part of the bed- it was stained- looked like blood- a huge area of the coverlet. Called the desk again- housekeeping came and agreed it did look like blood. No shuttle service was available the day we were there- very busy they said, although the website makes a big deal about having this service available. Also, checked out the pool- it is in the shade- sandwiched between 2 buildings- shade the entire day. There was not enough outside seating for customers.I am not happy with this hotel and would not suggest it to anyone. No apologizes from anyone- other customers had similar complaints to ours- they told one person there was no management available on weekends to hear her complaint. The ""free"" breakfast was mediocre and we were not waited on because we were not paying customers- when we did ask the server for coffee she rolled her eyes at us and made another person get it- and it took 10 minutes.I have never ever written a review for a hotel- but felt strongly that people should know there are many other hotels available in Ft. Lauderdale with MUCH better service. I will not go there again, and am about to email their manager right now.
