Our family had a good time here. I can understand the reviews though--both the good and the bad. Before we left I'd read the reviews and was somewhat nervous at what we'd get when we arrived. We had a very nice room. It looked like it had been recently renovated with a new paint job, plasma tv, new furniture, new kitchen, new bathroom-- the works. Yes the elevator was somewhat slow, but it wasn't bad at all. We had a friendly elderly neighbor in the room next to us and he showed us his room. It was then that I understood the bad reviews. While it was clean it was VERY dated and worn. If we had been given that room, we would have been very disappointed indeed. The pools were nice. There were some tiles missing from the ceiling on the the indoor one, but you could see there was a big effort being made to spruce the place up and that made a world of difference--knowing that they cared how their place looked. Our whole family had a really good time and will look here when we come to Myrtle Beach the next time-- we had a really nice stay at a great value.

When we arrived at Ocean Park it wasnt quite 4:00 which is check-in time so we had to wait for 2 hours because we got there at 1:30. They have added 2 new elevators since the last reviews. The rooms are still kind of out dated but you can tell that they are trying to fix that. I think that they started with the kitchenette area because that part looked fresh and new. From what I saw everything was taken care of and was cleaned regularly. The pool was cleaned at least 3 times during my 7 day stay. The housekeeping staff will come in daily to ;freshen; up your room. The staff was overall very nice when we needed something or had a question. And even though most people had pets, none were loud enough to disturb me. Overall this was a good stay, and like most reviews say this place does need to have a more updated make-over, and like I said before they do seem to be working on that part. This was the first time I had ever stayed here and the only way i wouldn't stay agian is if I found a better deal on a nicer ocean-front ;all rooms are ocean-front; report that allowed pets, and I dont think that most people will. Oh, and going through travel website was very helpful because most people that stayed there payed more to stay 3 nights then my 7.

Arrived Thurs. 7/16/09 enterd elevator that smelled like a skunk. Room had leak in bathroom ceiling near electrical fixture, water all over floor. Needed a cot and received a cot that was dusty and rusted shut. Once opened the cot had a dicussing stain in the center. Because of the potential of getting shocked in the bathroom, asked for room #2. Second room toilet cover had urine stains all over the back of it and airconditioner caught on fire when turned on, asked for room #3 and found out it had not been made up - somebody had used the room. At 2a.m. was finally brought to a somewhat exceptible room #4. The lock on the door was broken and the wood on the door frame was split. One bed appeared to have been slept in and made up without fresh sheets. On day 2 came back in the afternoon to find beds unmade and when we approached the maid she said she was tired. On day 3 we were supposed to get fresh sheets but it never happed. Originally we had 3 plastic glasses to drink out of. Those same 3 used glasses stayed throughout the trip - never got replacements. Wanted to go to the fitness center at 7p.m. and found it locked although the sign said open until 11p.m. Stairs going to the beach were unstable and rickety and in disrepair. All hotel doors were marked up. The hangers in the closet were so rusty, we could not use them. This is a hotel to avoid at all cost.
