My family husband and 2 children, 9 and 11; recently spent five nights at the Residence Inn in Old Town Alexandria and had a wonderful time. The two bedroom suite was perfect size for the four of us and the kids enjoyed having their own room. The kitchen was nice to have although we rarely used it. The hotel offered free breakfast every morning which was very good. Lots of variety. On Mon through Thurs they also have a ;happy hour which included a small meal and drinks. We took advantage of this a couple of nights and the food was very tasty. There is also a Whole Foods Market 2 blocks from the hotel where we bought sandwich meat and frozen pizzas for a quick lunch or dinner. Every staff member that we encountered went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly. We had difficulty with our internet connection in our room the first night. I called the front desk and within 5 minutes maintainence was at our door and helped us fix the problem. Parking is $15 per night but it was nice to know that the car was in a safe place. The hotel is just 3 blocks from the Metro station and took about 20 mins to get to Washington DC. It was very convenient! There is also an indoor pool although it is very small. We only swam one night so it was fine. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will stay there again when we are back in that area.

We stayed in a spacious 2-bedroom suite for a 1-night stay. We were pleased to find that the hotel is just about finished with its renovations (according to a note posted in the elevator, they only have the 3rd floor and the lobby area to go).

The location is perfect for visitng DC. The Metro is a few blocks away and a 20 minute ride to the monument area of DC. Arlington is one of the stops on the way into DC. The Metro was very safe and easy to use. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We didn't use many of the extras, but the laundry facilities we did use are in a large room with comfortable waiting area. They have a free breakfast with everything you could want and afternoon wine available. We returned to Alexandria for our evening meals and there is an excellent selection of restaurants nearby. We spent a day in Alexandria. It has historical sites and is a very charming town with river walkway. Lots of shopping and beautifully renovated historical homes on cobbled roads. Shuttle is available to take you to and from your activities. I will do it all the same when I return to DC. We tried hard, but couldn't see it all in four days and it left us hoping to return to see more.

We used to live in the area and this makes a great base for seeing both the museums and monuments in DC and getting around northern VA. Metro, Old Town Alexandria, and the wonderful Whole Foods market are all within very easy walking distance. Very easy to get to and from National airport via the metro. Not having a restaurant on site is no hardship at all as Old Town is so close with great restaurants in a variety of price ranges. Have recommended this hotel to friends and family members who have all had great experiences and plan to return; so do we.

I would highly recommend the Marriott on Duke Street if you plan a trip to Old Town Alexandria or even to D.C. as it is only 2 blocks from the Metro and 2 stops from Regan Airport. It was very clean and good value for the $. I had a two room suite complete with kitchen. The hotel has a great breakfast with great variety. They also serve a light dinner Monday-Thursday which I didn't know about and was a nice surprise. I was able to walk everywhere in the Old town area and to the Metro for trips into D.C. and to the airport. Only 2 blocks away is a Whole Food market which has great food to eat! I had a very plesant stay here. Also an extra ...they offered 4 daily papers, the Post, Times, Wall Street Journal, and the USA Today for free!
