The hotel was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was great (love the waffle maker!). Staff was friendly, water was hot, rate was excellent. I don't have a bad thing to say about the hotel. It's certainly not the lap of luxury, but I was staying for less than 12 hours so I didn't need luxury. My room overlooked Highway 5, so although convenient, not charming in any way. I will definitely stay again if I'm traveling through.

NO PARKING

THE PARKING SPACES IN THIS HOTEL WERE VERY SMALL. THE ONLY CARS THAT FIT ARE SMALL CARS. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PARKING FOR ALL THE GUEST SO I HAD TO PARK MY CAR OUTSIDE AROUND THE CORNER. I REALLY DIDN'T FEEL THAT MY CAR WAS SAFE BECAUSE IT WAS IN THE STREET.

One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was that it said "Free Parking." However, when we got there we found out this was not true, they do charge for parking. In addition, the breakfast left a great deal to be desired; they would have toast, but no butter. My husband spent his breakfast time searching for items and restocking what they did have, because there was no employee there to do that. We just felt like we did not get what we paid for.

San Diego is wonderful, and La Quinta Inn Old Town was in a great location to stay in to enjoy it all. Within walking distance to good restaurants and public transportation to downtown to avoid parking downtown. Close to Highway 5 and airport. Clean room, comfortable beds, helpful staff. Ask for a room not facing the road to avoid traffic noise. We were in the back and never heard any street noise, even with our window open. No fast food or grocery stores near, but we couldn't find those anywhere we traveled in San Diego.
While staying there, we visited SD Zoo, Legoland, Mission Beach, LaJolla, Torrey Pines Park, Coronado Island, and downtown San Diego--all easy to get to from the hotel.
Great vacation!
