The main problem we encounter was the room was not cleaned one day and asking for more towels the clerk gave us a long story on why he could only provide pool towels. Asking the clerk for information on local activities was a waste of time they did not know about the tram or distance to another attraction. The staff makes you feel like you are intruding and do not interact with the guests. Stay away.

We stayed here for 5 days while my husband fished the trout streams nearby, and it was a great trip. I do not fish, but I found plenty to do. It is within walking distance of everything. The room was big, clean and had everything anyone could want. I did NOT find it at all noisy and I thought the continental breakfast was fine. The juice was good, the donuts big and fresh and they have great coffee. People who complain are out of it. It is a "Continental Breakfast" NOT a buffet! Actually it was better than the continental breakfast we were served at a hotel in Paris. I hope to go back during trout season next year with our son and daughter-in-law. They like to kayak and the motel gives each room a pass to the private beach down the street where kayaks can be rented. All in all Big Pines is two thumbs up as far as we're concerned!

Upon arrival and walking into the smelly office, I asked if I could inspect the room first before committing. But then I read the fine print and realized I would be charged anyway since I booked on line. Air Conditioner didn't work, towel rack was barely hanging by a nail, rooms first looked updated, but only surface painting, new tile in bathroom, but carpets were old and dirty. Bedding was clean (thank Goodness!). Lights didn't work, but TV did. Needless to say, we were out of there by 6:30 a.m. Never staying there again. I would rate this hotel only fair.

We have stayed in this property 3 times. The first time was prior to being renovated and remodeled. The 2nd return trip was a pleasant surprise - they had new window coverings, new carpt, new bathrooms, everything had been updated! Our 3rd visit was routine, we knew that we would arrive to a clean and updated room, the showers are powerful and the room heater works very well. Would recommend this property and would be willing to return any time!
