I booked at Hotel Union Square based on the presentation of the rooms. Each room had a unique personality of its own. Unlike 99% of all other hotels I have ever been to, Hotel Union Square offered rooms that made you feel at home, not stuck in some small box that looks exactly like the room next to it. Furthermore, the hotel was conveniently located at the beginning of the Powell Street cable car line. Access to many points of interest was easy and very convenient. Overall a great stay.

I was looking for something that had a little personality...not just the run of the mill Motel 6. I like the hotel to be just as memorable as the vacation itself. Every expectation was met! This place has style. The location could not have been better (shopping, food, trolly, transit). The staff was genuinely sweet...not fake and shmoozy at all. We upgraded to the executive king room and it was HUGE. So much room in fact, I questioned why they had not thought to add a little refridgerator. We did fine without though...they provided a little fancy bucket and there was an ice machine 20 feet from our room. I like to keep cold water or juice nearby for the morning, so I put some on ice before bed. That is the only thing that I could think to mention as a complaint...but we improvised just fine. I really loved this place and can not wait to find an excuse to go back.

The Petite room is so small even the desk clerks dont recommend it. If you are southern or hot natured person make sure you ask for an airconditioned room . They are not big on a/c in san fran due to the weather but the humidity after a shower is too much for myself so i had to have my a/c. The hotel staff is nice and gave use good service. The hotel is decorated well with a 30's retro feel, and is in a great location. THe only down side we experinced after moving to a/c room was the matresses in either room were hard and uncomfortable. The priceier rooms may have been better dunno. overall i'd consider staying again if i were in SF.

The room we had was only about 100 square feet, hardly enough room to put suitcases in and maneuver around the room with 2 people. Plus, no central air conditioning! For a recently renovated hotel to have in-window air conditioners seems a little cheap! Also, bed was uncomfortable, pillows not good. Also, even though we had a sign on the door, housekeeping attempted to come in at 9am. The best thing about the hotel was location: close to shopping and public transit.

This hotel is in a perfect location on the Powell St cable car line. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make my stay outstanding. The rooms were as advertised. I would return without any hesitation and I would recommend it to others. This is not a big hotel environment.
