Frankly, I'd rather keep this place a secret, but won't because I want other Mayo patients and families to know about our outstanding experience. My sis was an outpatient at the Mayo and we needed a suite to accommodate our 10-day stay. The hotel staff was kind, flexible and responsive to our needs. The hot breakfasts offered - for the most part - enough variety, though they had no sugar-free options. The workout room was great! Treadmills, elipticals and recumbant bike were clean and well-maintained. Full set of free weights were available as well. The pool is good for kids, but not adults who want to swim laps...there are three large creepy plastic animals spewing water in the way. The lobby has two computers for use - just get there early in the morning since the adolescents zone out in front of them later. Within easy walking distance is a small lifestyle mall that includes a Target with a full grocery section and pharmacy; Caribu Coffee; Cold Stone Creamery; a fun Japanese restaurant with an tongue-twisting name; a liquor store (fyi, Rochester sells wine/beer exclusively at liquor stores). TownePlace is also located in a quiet area next to a large residential neigborhood - great for leisurely walks or a jog. Both sis and I felt very safe in the area. The complimentary shuttle to Mayo and St Mary's is good if one has appointments that go no later than say, 4:30. The last shuttle is a bit early in the evening to count on for delayed appointments.

My family and I have been going to the Mayo Clinic for just over a year now. We have stayed at this property in the past when it was a Heritage Suites, it was ok. But they have new management 100% renovated property and lots of extras to go along with it! The new TownePlace Suites is definitely my favorite hotel in town now becuase when i am at the clinic for my appointments my wife and kids will usually stay at the hotel and play in the waterpark keeping them occupied and wearing them out for a good rest that night. So now that this is a new property, with new management and ownership....I would say you would be foolish to choose anywhere else in town because not only is it a nice facility but the price is comparable to a 2 star hotel and this is a 4 star hotel (i think) very compitive prices though. The staff has gone above and beyond my expectations to kepp my family and i comfortable while in town and have got to know quite a few of the staff members on a personel level. They have converted me to a mind set where ""I will not stay anywhere else"" and when i travel elsewhere besides rochester MN I try to find a TownePlace there too! All in all i got a great deal, comfortable room, kept the kids occupied and they even had a good time and was well feed by their breakfast buffet every morning! I have stayed in rochester commuting for the twin-cities area for two years now, and am really glad i have found this dimond in the rough for Rochester lodging! This is truly a one of a kind hotel, it has a great hot breakfast, in-door water park, nice fitness facility and the rooms are the biggest ones i've stayed in while in town (like 50% bigger). The staff was great and the rooms were amazing (my room had a full kitchen and private bedroom for $*). This property was renovated summer of 2008 and let me tell you, STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE EVER IN ROCHESTER...... you wont be dissappointed! trust me

This hotel was perfect for a weekend family getaway. The pools are perfect for kids, and the breakfast is wonderful! Our room featured a full sized fridge, dishwasher, dishes and flatware, a stove, cookware, and a microwave. They even had laundry! We'll definitely be going back.
