Upon check-in, front desk staff was kind, but that was the nicest part of the stay. Lobby was cramped and outdated; guest rooms had been slightly remodeled but still appeared to be old. Bed was undersized for the room, no closet, no bathroom heat. Underwhelming, to say the least.

This place used to be a pretty good deal for the money. Inexpensive but decient accomidations. Clean and everything worked. Not anymore. The place is run down and not being maintained. The toilet in my room was not even attached to the floor. The plumbing barely worked. The bathroom was "New" but obviously installed by to half blind guys in a hurry. The bed was only one step up from sleeping on the floor. The room stunk. Litterally smelled bad. Theres a huge hole in west corner of the building where the wall has collapsed. Theres a half-hearted attempt at sealing it with plywood but still huge gaps that a dog could get through. Elevator seemed on its last legs, took 5 min to go one floor.

This was by far the worst HOJO I have ever visted. The bed was so small I felt like I was in a college dorm room. They are renovating so there was no type of breakfast offered. The housekeeping staff ignored my do not disturb sign and attempted to enter my room at 9:30 am on two separate occasions. I had to have my keys reactivated twice without explanation. This room was by far one the worse I have encountered in Austin TX.

Best part of hotel stay was a friendly staff. In general, the entire hotel smelled of stale smoke, even in the hallways. I had a non-smoking room but the mattress had a strong smell of cigarette smoke and there was still a smell of smoke in the room. The mattress must have been there before Texas became a State - like sleeping on a bag of potatoes - very worn. Condition of room was poor. Shabby curtains, tiles missing on a cracked bathroom floor and baseboard tiles were falling off the bathroom wall from continuous water damage. Ceiling in bathroom was flaking off (had a popcorn ceiling in the shower!) Shower head was falling apart and little water pressure. The shower was either extremely hot, or luke warm due to defective faucet in shower. Bathroom door would not shut without slamming the door. Overall lack of care, maintenance and painting! Pictures on line are very deceiving!
