  We were in Kansas City for a trade show the last weekend in February and stayed at the Microtel Inn by the airport. This is one of the best rooms I've stayed in for the price. We chose the 'suite', which had a queen bed, small refrigerator and microwave, bar sink, couch, two tv's, and a cushioned window seat. My husband was enthralled with the large smoked mirror covering the wall at the head of the bed. Like most hotels, the heater was a little noisy, but the comforter was generously warm, so we slept with the heater off. We were very comfortable despite a strong cold front that came through during the night. I discovered a lighter weight blanket in the closet the next morning that would be better for a warmer night. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly. The breakfast consisted of cold items - cereal, rolls, fruit, bread, juices, etc. There was a toaster and microwave for heating water for hot cereal. Also, of course, coffee. The location was great, close to the highway, but not so much that you heard traffic noise all night long. A couple of exits to the south, there is a really nice large shopping/dining/entertainment area offering anything you could possibly want. Truly more than I expected for the price. Not four star, but I wasn't paying four star price. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  I tried to call hotel directly to book..twice, but mailbox was full. booked through online travel. understood there was no extra daily fee for parking car during travel, but ...

  I tried to call hotel directly to book..twice, but mailbox was full. Booked through online travel. Understood there was no extra daily fee for parking car during travel, but it turned out to be $5.00/day. I could have parked at the airport for that.

  A no frills hotel--great for one night stays when leaving the next morning out of KCI. Hotel offers an alternative to parking your car at the airport lots and the shuttle service to and from KCI was great. Breakfast hours could have started earlier.
