I chose this hotel because it was only a mile or two from the place I was working for 2 days and because it was relatively cheap ($54.99 for me). The room was basically clean and comfy but had a few quirks worth mentioning. When I arrived at 11pm, I was told that yreservation had been cancelled because my credit card had been declined. I had never received any indication of this, nor should my card have been declined for any reason. In fact, I used the same card to pay for the room in the end. They checked me and but due to some confusion I was sent to a room that had not yet been cleaned (and still ahd the TV on for some reason, which at first led meto believe there was someone in it, but there wasn't). After going back to the office, I was given another room. No big deal, mistakes happen. The good: basically clean and comfortable. Nice kitchen area with stove, fridge, microwave, sink, cabinets, and coffee maker.Alarm clock, nice AC/heating unit. About 25 decent cable channels. Drawers for clothes, etc., a place to hang clothes and a bedside table. The bad: "High speed wireless internet" was anything but "high speed" and cost a one time fee of $4.99. Fridge buzzed so loud whenever it cycled that I turned it off so I could sleep. Shower head was a bit grungy but shower was clean. Shower only had a curtain but no liner so basically it was just a thin cloth curtain that soaked up water instead of repelling it. Bottom line: if you need a fairly cheap place that provides the most basic necessities, this place will do as a decent, clean place to lay your head at night.

If you are staying in far west Houston and paying for the room yourself Crossland West Oaks is hard to beat. The staff is friendly and curteous, Sharla especially always had a smile on her face. Some rooms had some minor issues (one feeezer would not make ice, another had a TV with poor reception), but in general it is clean and the staff is friendly. I stayed there 3 day a week for 5 weeks so was in a lot of different rooms. The rates get lower for longer more extended stays. Crossland provided good value for me.
