The beds were nice, that's the only nice thing I can say about the Westin Crown Center. They added $18 to our bill for valet parking, no prices were posted. We only used valet once. The bathrooms were primitive, not even an exhaust fan. Wi fi is available, they only let you use it in your room for $10/day. I've traveled enough to know wi fi is usually free, as is valet. I would rather stay at a place with fewer comforters but less charges! The work out area smelled awful, we couldn't stand it long enough to get a work out in. Huge dust bunnies live under the furniture. I really was unimpressed.

First, the good: the Westin Crown Center is located in a shopping area called (aptly enough) Crown Center, which means you've got a nice selection of restaurants and shops to peruse during your visit. Furthermore, the hotel has been recently renovated, and the rooms are modern and clean. The service, however, is another matter entirely. I don't have the space here to bore you with the saga of my attempts to resolve Westin's mistaken and annoying overcharges to my credit card (all of which, suffice it to say, could have been avoided had any ONE of their employees bothered to pay attention to the obvious). I'll just warn other would-be travelers: although this establishment is a good stay for the price, DO NOT expect a quick resolution to any problems that might arise during (or after) your stay! Roll the dice if you like, but consider yourselves warned!

It would be very difficult to find anything to criticize during my stay at the Westin. From the moment I drove in to the moment I left, the service was excellent. The atmosphere is every bit a bustling elegant hotel. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The bed, itself, was a prize winner. And the view wasn't too shabby, either. I think the most impressive element was the service. The staff goes way beyond expectations to make you feel welcome. I valeted my car and never had to wait for it, check in was so easy and quick and the lobby bar area was a terrific place to absorb the activity. Another great feature, that I really didn't have enough time to really take advantage of, was the Crown Center complex itself. All attached with numerous restaurants, shops and skywalks that make your visit even more entertaining. I am sure there are other great hotels in the KC area, but this one is dead center, location-wise and comes with all the bells and whistles. It would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kansas City.

04/13/2008Do not stay at this hotel. they ruined our honeymoon.
>>gouged $13/day parking (above area market) $10/day internet and $5/day pool/fitness (not charged by ...DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. THEY RUINED OUR HONEYMOON.

>>We ordered the 1 vegetarian item the restaurant menu had. 15 minutes after our waiter disappeared, the chef came out and told us they were out of it. we were then charged for juice/coffee we didnt drink since we went somewhere else.
>>We were given a tubless handicap access room next to an ice machine that woke up us at 7am every day, on a dry floor where we could not have alcohol and when we got to it, the minifridge was half-empty.
