If you are a business guy and spending a lot of time in your room, feel free to find something as inexpensive and close. You will pay anywhere from 200-500 a night for anything better. For families, and those traveling on a budget, this place is fine. They do whatever they can to help out and fix any problems. It has a huge international following. Yes, it's old. But it's not ""bad"". My suggestion is get there before checkin, find the housekeeper and find out if she's assigned to your room for the time you will be there, tip her a few bucks and you'll get some extra attention. Its worth it. But if your used to 4 star suites, this is NOT the place for you. If your on a budget and won't be doing anything but showering and sleeping. You'll be fine. :)

It may be old and have nothing fancy about it, but it's the best value and you can't ask for a better location. The rooms are plain but safe and comfortable and reasonably clean. The location is absolutely fantastic and convenient to everything, including the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building which is less than a three minute walk away. It's a short cab ride from Union Station and in an area that's easy to find your way around. The front desk staff are friendly and very helpful and will give you a map of the city upon your arrival. This is a very affordable, no-frills hotel and while it may not be sparkling clean, I did not find it to be filthy as some other reviewers have said. It's a simple, convenient, inexpensive place and perfect for the solo traveler. The only complaint I would have would be that the food in one of the hotel?s three restaurants, Harriet's, is inedible...but there are plenty of places to eat in the area. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to any traveler on a budget.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It is very run down and in extreme need of repair.

TV stuck on one channel and no remote.
    AC did not work.
    No phone book
No bathroom items (soap, shampoo, etc)
Almost ZERO water pressure in the bathroom.
    Shower dirvertor did not work.

Took several calls to the front desk to get someone to 'fix' the shower. 3-4 hours later they finally gave us another room but that one was even worse than the first one. They offered a whole whopping $5 off the room to make up for all the problems.

I would not stay at the hotel again under ANY circumstances.

If you are going to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, this isn't the place. It's a bit old, but rooms are clean. If you are going to sleep, shower, and go sight seeing or head off to business meetings, it's fine. If it's warmer wearther, I'd suggest the higher floors, seemed cooler up there. If you are traveling more than 1 person, get a KING DELUXE or KING STANDARD room. It's worth the extra few bucks. They often include fridge, microwave, and coffee pot in the KING rooms. If not, request them, and they will do their best to hook you up. The lobby sometimes smells strongly of food from next door. The good thing is, its close to everything, including metro center, and it's not 300 dollars a night like everything else in the area. It's a toss up, I'll probably stay there again. If you can afford something nicer, go for it, but if your on a budget, and are there to sight see, it's not too bad.
