This place is an old resort but looked like it was just renovated. The renovation failed to address the moldy smell in the rooms. The rooms were cleanier than other area hotels but there was mold in the bathroom especially the shower head. The pool area was large but needed some TLC. The game room needs to be updated but the "kids zone" was great, our two kids were in it everyday. The staff was friendly,the food ok but like I said in the title, it was nice but I would try another hotel. Not one of my top 5. FYI...this place allows pets.

I had booked four rooms for a family reunion. They all had black mold in the bathrooms. My room had a puddle of water that was hidden under the carpet soo you could not tell. We all had push the door with our bodies just to get in. We all complained to the front desk and we let them know that you had to yank on the doors just to get out of the room. It was a fire hazard and also it was a health hazard. We stayed at the Hawthorn inn and Suites for the past two reunions, that was a very nice resort we decided to come here because it wasnt enough entertainment for the kids at the hawthorn. This was a terrible mistake. Please be careful and see this place for yourself.

Location is great and easy to get to. Lobby is nicely decorated for the holiday. Staff is personable, friendly and professional. Condition of the rest of the place is not so good, however. Needs a complete overhaul. Paint, new ceiling tiles, lighting, room decor, condition of bathrooms, all what you'd expect in a 1 star hotel.

Overall the hotel was good. There were lots of activities although we did not take advantage of all. The outdoor pool was really nice. The pool bar was nice, and there were always towels . The new childrens playroom ""kidzone"" was a great hit with my 3 year old. We walked the grounds around the golf course (beautiful). The location was great. We checked out sights in the area without burning lots of time or gas. The room was comfortable and clean. The wifi was a plus. I brought my pda and had not trouble connecting.The kids eat free which was also a bonus. On the downside, the whirlpool and childrens pool were not operational which was disappointing. The on-site dining is not great. The steaks for both my husband and I were not done as ordered. The service at the breakfast was slow and the food as fair at best , but there were lots of choices. I would definetely return, but pass on the on-site dining.
