The resort was everything we wanted, and more. Kona Kai is centrally located, and is the perfect distance from most all of the attractions we chose to visit in San Diego. We had 2 rooms, adjoining, with bay views on the 2nd floor. Both rooms were clean and well maintained, and we absolutely loved the view of the bay, the pool, and all the boats. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the front desk even reprinted my boarding passes for our return flights. I would certainly recommend a stay here to all of my friends, and if we return to San Diego, I can see staying here again myself! We didn't use many of the facilities amenities available to us, such as the exercise room, the restaurant, massages, etc etc, thats just not the way we travel, but for a clean, pleasant, relaxing environment, located centrally and easily accessible to things like Old Towne, Sea World, the zoo and Balboa park, and Petco park, Kona Kai is hard to beat!

We were very pleased we were with our visit to the Kona Kai Resort. Our first contact was with a terrific young lady at the front desk named X, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that our accommodations were perfect. She was very friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome. In addition to X, X in the restaurant and all of the restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating. Our meals were excellent and the service was also excellent. Our room was clean and well attended to, as was the pool, Jacuzzi, and the rest of the facility. The presence of friendly security staff was a big plus for us (and our small child). At check out, we had the pleasure of dealing with X at the front desk. She was also very helpful and pleasant. She went out of her way to review our bill with us and made sure that our accommodations were to our liking. She offered her assistance with anything we might need prior to our departure. Kudos to an excellent hotel and staff.

The Kona Kai was a very clean and friendly hotel. X at the front desk was wonderful in getting us set up in a great room. My family enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. We also enjoyed the sand and boats as well. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. Shelter Island was very quaint and close to everything. Thanks again.

Had a room with a marvelous view of the bay. Beds were quite comfy. Did not use the pool, since the beaches were about a 20 min drive. Everything we wanted to do was not more than 30 min from the hotel. Had a marvelous time and will come back and stay at this hotel again!
