I have stayed at Hilton hotels all over the US and abroad. One would think that The Hilton Washington in Washington DC would be their flagship hotel. Not so.The hotel was under renovation. I realize that renovations are necessary from time-to-time so this is neither a pro nor con This particular renovation at the time of my stay meant only that the rooftop pool, tennis courts, and the exercise/ fitness room were closed. Yes I missed not being able to work out in a designated fitness area, but I survived.Other than these areas, the hotel structure was very satisfactory, well maintained, and clean. With one exception the staff was very helpful and courteous. My experience with "In room dining" was limited but good. The food was well prepared, hot upon arrival, and arrived in about half the time promised.I had wine with my dinner. THE CONS:Had I desired to have a soda or bottled water I would have been out of luck because I later found out that the drink dispenser on my floor did not work. Express check out was non-existent. No account statement was delivered during my last night and no checkout was available via the television. So off to the lobby to check out quickly before my scheduled meeting. There I find only one woman at the lobby desk who is too busy talking on the telephone to acknowledge my existence, let alone check me out. Because of my meeting I didn't have time to wait. I left my key card on the counter and left. I still don't know the total of my charges. Over all I give this Hilton 21/2 stars. Not what I have come to expect from Hilton. Next time I think I'll stay at the Courtyard by Marriott across the street

8 days in August. Acceptable for a Days Inn but not for a Hilton. Continued problems with the shower single handle faucet - not intuitive to operate, difficult to turn, and not enough hot water. The ice machine broke down during the visit and was not repaired despite having notified the staff. - was insulted by having them blame the problem on the 140 million renovation construction; give me a break, that had nothing to do with it. I am not used to having to pay an extra $ per day for internet access using my own machine; that may be ok for the expense account crowd but not for me. Plenty of other places have free wifi. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, each and every one of them. Come on this is a Hilton, you pay Hilton you should get Hilton.

I came to stay on business and was very disappointed with the hotel. I have to say the staff was very helpful and polite. However, I was in my room for 30 minutes when my door got keyed in to while I was in there and a gentleman said ""oops"" and high tailed it out of there. When I ask the front office staff they couldn't give me an explanation. the room was small, the view was of construction, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls and the room was at the far extreme of the hall and it seemed like I walked for an hour just to get to the elevator. Ugh! I would not recommend. The metro wasn't too far though, just about 3 blocks down the hill.

Stay away from this place... First, they wouldn't accept my Hilton Honors as I purchased through a online travel website. That was OK but then - 1.) The hotel is being renovated. I got in early in the afternoon hoping to do some work. No luck. There were hammers, power saws, etc. going constantly 2.) The rooms were dirty - stained comforter, stained towels, stained rugs 3.) I was on the 1st floor....ice machine didn't work... Went to the second and it didn't work... third didn't work... finally got ice on the 5th floor 4.) Although I asked daily, I didn't get a wash cloth until the last day I was there 5.) I'm surprised they didn't charge me for the wash clothes... there were extra charges for Internet, the gym, etc Bad experience. I stay at Hilton hotels 50 - 60 nights a year. This one really made me question if the chain isn't on life support... I read somewhere that Hilton was being sued for stealing someone else's ideas. They must have gotten this idea from the Motel 6... A dump.
