I was a little concerned when the only review rated this property poorly. We have stayed many times at Homewood and have always had good to very good experiences. The location is convenient to Downtown Jacksonville where we were attending a play. The 1 bedroom unit was of standard Homewood size and had been recently renovated. New cabinets/fixtures in bathroom and new carpet throughout. New sink was located a little high, fine for me , but a bit high for my wife. Unit was clean and in very good shape. Renovations are continuing at the property. It looks like they are doing one building at a time. Renovations did not affect our stay at all. Included breakfast was good, with scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and standard continental breakfast items. Staff was friendly and attentive. The room was pre-paid through Travel agency, but an additional charge came through on my credit card. This has happened several times before on pre-paid Travel agency bookings at other hotels, so I watched for it. I called Travel agency and they quickly had the charge credited. I reduced the staff rating to "fair" for mistaken charge. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again, even with the billing glitch.

The vanity sink was broken. The other sink leaked; the ice machine was off. The pool was locked when we arrived at 8pm. We hunted down the front desk clerk who found a key since the sign said it was open until 10pm, however, I did not feel that the conditions were quite sanitary since there was red caution tape around the ? filled dirty hot tub and the shower to rinse off for the pool was not working. Health code violation? In addition the clock in the room was set to a different time which the front desk clerk said that they would fix in the morning since it wasn?t the kind one could reset without a screwdriver. The ?locked? door into the building from a side entrance was broken and wouldn?t close. In addition my young son discovered that the balcony door to our room was not locked and opened the door by himself. I shiver just thinking of the possibilities! What makes me absolutely furious is that the balcony door would not close. It was warped and had no bolt or piece of wood to lock it in place. The front desk clerk assured me that a manager would contact me around 8:30am. We left around noon without a word from management.
