  My roommate and I just needed a place to crash for the night while we were in Des Moines for a show. By the site, this hotel looked fine. The staff, quite nice. Granted, they had just suffered a huge ice storm but the parking lot was a law suit waiting to happen. It didn't look like anyone had even tried to plow or salt. Once in the room, I thought it was a typical hotel room, two queen beds, cable tv etc. I then walked into the bathroom and was disgusted. The bathtub was covered in mold. The tile along the wall was dusty and filthy. There were dead bugs in the light fixture (remembering that it is now December and that should have been cleaned out by now). The counter top was losing it's covering and you could see the plywood cracking and breaking inside. The room was just plain dirty! Now I am one that is not comfortable in a strange bed anyway but I specifically inspected the sheets in case they were dirty. Fortunatly for them, they LOOKED clean. I will never stay in one of these inns again. Especially considering the amount of money I paid for the disgusting room I received. They will be receiving a letter of complaint from me. Don't bother wasting your money...there are plenty of hotels/motels around this area.

  We were put in 2 adjoining rooms in the back on the balcony. The railing was very unsafe as well as the deck wood soft and rotted out. Anyone could easily lean against it and fall over the edge. My smoke alarm battery was bad and beeped every 5 minutes--at 3:00 a.m. I finally took it down, called the desk and asked them to call me if there was a fire. No offer of assistance.
  The room looked somewhat okay but mine had a moldy, smokey smell. The sheets didn't fit the bed. I was scared to look at the mattress, however it was comfortable.
  For the location during the fair we were glad to get a room at the last minute but I would NOT go there again.
