  We decided to take a quick trip to San Francisco for a weekend get away. So we booked our trip through Travelocity after reviewing about 20 similar hotels (price and location). When we checked into the Hotel Frank, the staff was very pleasant. We went up to our room and found it was nothing like the photographs we reviewed on the website. I have to say that the room photographs supplied through multiple travel sites didn't represent the actual room. The room was small and dark and the renovation seemed to consist of freshly painted walls and trim. There were no tissues or water glasses in the bathroom and the windows didn't offer any sound isolation from the street noise. There was a local street performer playing a drum set right outside our room and the hotel staff told us that the "music" would only last until 12:00 am or 12:30 am. After we asked for a different room, the staff found us another room on the back side of the building which had one small window with exterior walls on either side; allowing almost no natural light into the room. We ended up staying in the hotel for our first night, however; we check out the next morning and found a much nicer hotel a couple of blocks away. I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on our stay, and I feel there are better options at the same rate in the Union Square area.

  What a cool little hotel. The staff made you feel like a guest in their home, very friendly! Greeting you when you leave and when you return. You walk out the door and you are minutes away from Union Square, a short walk from Chinatown and minutes from most mass transit. The room was nice and I love the feel of the hotel.
