The Westin Copley Place is located in what most would consider to be the ideal spot in Boston. It's in an affluent area with fantastic shops, trendy restaurants, and historic sites -- all within walking distance. However, the room, despite a fantastic view of back bay, had mold in the shower, cracks and waterspots in and on the ceiling, loads of marks on the walls, chairs that had suspicious stains on them, and carpet that literally looked embedded with grime. And this was the best of three rooms since the first we were sent to -- and later the second -- were not up to Westin standards (we stay in Westin hotels for the majority of our domestic travels and this room was nowhere near what we're used to at, for example, the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco or the Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago). The lobby is upscale and inviting, but it's a surprise to arrive on your floor and be greeted by aged furniture, dirty carpeting, and peeling wallpaper in the hallway; it turned out to be a preview of what the room was like. The staff were nice and the concierege very helpful. But, mold in the shower stall of a per night room? On the upside, one very cool in-room feature was a small window that could be opened; something you rarely get in highrise hotels. The hotel rooms are in need of major renovation, but if location is more important to you than an upscale hotel room, this would be the place to stay. Bring socks to walk around in when you're in-room.

This hotel couldnt be in a better location. Subway is across the street. Walking distance to Charles Playhouse ;blue man group, minutes from newbury street for great shopping. Many dining options available. The conceirge was very helpful in giving us accurate directions. Full view of Boston from our bedroom on the 16th floor. One of the major downfalls was hotel breakfast. Five dollar orange juice and waited 25 minutes for the waiter to take our order....we ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Overall I would definately stay here again.

Hotel was in a good central location for our stay in Boston, just one block off the subway which we used a lot. Two minor problems with the room cleaning staff that were remedied quickly and they comped us a breakfast for the trouble. Location was good, price was right and a relatively trouble free stay. I have to rate our stay as a three because of the over sites of the room cleaning staff.
